Always seeking to better equip ourselves collectively with emancipatory practices, Quinoa invites you to explore the creative and transformative power of slam poetry. Through writing, performance, and sharing opportunities, come give voice and substance to your ideas!

This workshop is a new session, this time in English. Open to all, led by Nicolò Gugliuzza, slam poet and staff member at Quinoa.

The objectives?

To use spoken word poetry as a tool for expression and personal transformation;

To experiment with orality and the body as means of conveying ideas, emotions, and stories;

To build a collective space where exchanges thrive on diversity and creativity.

By combining individual expression and group dynamics, this workshop offers an opportunity to let your voice resonate, unleash your imagination, and experience a process that puts words at the service of connection and change.

Whats is Slam poetry ?

Slam poetry is a form of oral and performance poetry that emerged in the United States in the 1980s, driven by a desire to make
 poetry more accessible and participatory. Born in a context of open stages and grassroots initiatives, slam poetry is distinguished
 by its emphasis on orality, interaction with the audience, and the expressive power of words.
More than just an artistic genre, slam poetry is a space for collective expression where the voice,
the body, and personal narratives come to life. Inspired by diverse traditions and contemporary art forms,
it provides fertile ground for self-exploration, social denunciation, and the creation of connections.

Nicolò Gugliuzza

Nicolò Gugliuzza is an anthropologist by training who combines social engagement with artistic creation.
A trainer at the NGO Quinoa, he leads training sessions on interculturality and global and solidarity education.
Passionate about multilingualism and oral expression, he explores the emancipatory potential of poetry as a tool
for dialogue and social transformation.

Involved in slam poetry and theater for 12 years,
first in Italy and then in Belgium, Nicolò uses art to build connections and question contemporary issues.
His first collection, Tra ciliegi e robot (2020), explores the tensions between humanity and technology. Active on the slam scenes in Belgium and Italy,
he also collaborates with the Murmur Mori project as a narrator and actor.
Based in Brussels, he continues to innovate at the intersection of art, education, and civic engagement.
